Alvalade
In the heart of Lisbon’s traditional Alvalade district, a 1950s apartment has been given a new lease of life thanks to Beelt’s intervention. This comprehensive refurbishment maintained the essence and architectural design of the period, while providing the comfort and convenience that modern life demands.
The work, which covered a total area of 125m2, was marked by a profound transformation in all specialties, from electricity, water and sewage, to the renovation of floors and coverings. However, the original structure of the property was preserved, with changes focused mainly on the layout of the apartment.
One of the main concerns of both the clients and the architects responsible was to maintain the property’s identity. As a result, various pieces of woodwork, such as doors and skirting boards, were restored and new pieces created that replicate the designs and moldings of the time. This attention to detail also extended to the wooden window frames, following the practices and customs of the 50s.
The bathrooms are a real tribute to the era: tessellated floors, wall coverings with colorful stripes and neo-classical sanitary ware transport us to a past full of memories. The kitchen, on the other hand, stands out for its wooden floor in speckled taco, which contrasts harmoniously with dark blue carpentry and lioz worktops, crowned by a classic porcelain sink.
The refurbishment of this apartment in Alvalade is yet another testament to the excellence and dedication of Beelt, which managed to transform an old space into a modern home, without losing its soul and history.
