Beelt was chosen to carry out the full rehabilitation of a building in Mouraria (Travessa do Jordão), a central historical area of Lisbon. The building to be intervened dates from the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century, with a typical construction of the so-called bay buildings, a type of construction that still constitutes a large part of the fabric of the old city.
The project to be executed, by Saraiva+Associados, foresees the conversion of the current space into a Housing and Commercial building, with 4 floors and use of the roof, resulting in 3 apartments and a small store. It will be subject to a deep intervention, including the reinforcement of the existing structure, alteration and rehabilitation of the interiors and rehabilitation of the existing facades and roofs.
This transformation seeks to bet on the recovery and valorization of the heritage, but adapting the experience of the spaces to the current life, through new solutions in the sanitary installations and kitchenettes, as well as new wall and floor coverings and new networks of special installations.
The construction work starts this month and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024.
