2 New Building Rehabilitations in Lisbon
Beelt – Engenharia e Construção has been selected as the general contractor for the renovation of two residential buildings located in the heart of the capital: Paço da Rainha and Casa Amarela.
Although classified as rehabilitation projects, their execution will rely heavily on new construction, involving the complete demolition of the buildings’ interiors while preserving the most significant architectural elements.
Both projects will be developed starting from shallow reinforced concrete foundations, from which a new mixed structure of rolled steel and LSF (Light Steel Frame) will rise. For the execution of the floor slabs, the Light Floor technology will be adopted, developed, and patented by Servisteel, a subcontractor specialized in metal solutions.
This technology combines LSF profiles with structural lightweight concrete – also developed and certified by the company – allowing for the construction of lightweight slabs using hollow blocks adapted to the metal structure.
This solution will significantly reduce the loads on the structure, speed up construction timelines, improve the buildings’ thermal and acoustic performance, and optimize construction in an urban context.
- At Paço da Rainha, located on the Santana Hill, the main and rear façades will be preserved and renovated. The new building will have three above-ground floors, six residential units, a duplex on the top floor, and a renovated outdoor courtyard.

Casa Amarela, located within the consolidated urban fabric of Lisbon, will be renovated with only the main façade and two stairwells retained. The new structure will result in a building with five above-ground floors, including attic spaces on the top level, nine residential units, and a swimming pool in the outdoor area.
With these two projects, Beelt reinforces its commitment to urban rehabilitation based on structural and architectural responsibility, ensuring safety, construction efficiency, and full compatibility with the challenges of the capital city.
